Get your umbrellas folks, it’s about to rain some truth facts…ENJOY
Josh,
I apologize for apologizing in my last blog to you. I am on my own schedule and will post blogs when I have nothing left to do but, work. This leads me to my next topic: 5 of my top concerns during my day.
1) Coffee or any kind of pick-me-up, to not work. This is very important. I need to have energy to “not work.” Picking a pick-me-up is always a double edged sword for me. I don’t know why I dwell on this, but I figure if I’m going to salary surf I should put money aside should something happen. $5 a day for a coffee can really add up. After my coffee run, I like to walk the neighborhood with my dog. Everyone knows him in the hood, so this walk could take anywhere from a half hour to a full hour. I consider this kind of work, because at the end of the month when I need to make quota…these are the people I will network through to make this happen. The streets are mean JP!
2) Personal phone calls. Working from home allows me the freedom to take personal phone calls whenever I want. This could take up to 2 hours of my day. My sister and I have what is called “gossip’s alert.” We catch up on our day and tell each other the latest gossip on facebook, twitter, etc. Facebook can be very addictive and watch out if LaLa Mahoney is fighting with her baby daddy! Plus I’m getting paid right. My manager doesn’t have time to return my email, more or less call in and check on me.
3) Lunch. What am I going to eat today and with who…I might make a date with one of my friends or family members to sit down and eat or have them over my place. Both can be time consuming and get me through most of my day. If I stay at home, I can also get some chores done too. I have never been more on top of my laundry!
4) Work is still in the back of my mind people. Why if I didn’t have this job how would I ever be able to afford the finer things in life. This is about 3:00 PM. I will send a couple of emails, get in my 8 reports that my managers require because they are too dumb to utilize our sales CRM tool, and make a call or two. Don’t get me wrong, these calls are to co-workers. A girl has to keep up on her inside the office scoop.
5) Last but certainly not least, my plans for the rest of the day. I always TRY to get a workout in, and I love chatting with my neighbors afterwards. Finishing off a day usually consists of me and a bunch of neighbors, friends, and family sharing a bottle of wine talking about what we “did” today.
Keeping It Real Always,
Salary Surfer
